Seraphique anounces new singer Michel Matteman wil be our voice from now on. He is a talented singer and frontman, delivering strong vocals in a broad range of colours, from clean to gruesome grunt. He also is the singer in the death metal ensemble Carnal Leftovers. We feel that this is the place and time to tell you that Rein has left. He didn't especially leave Seraphique, he just left. A bright star shone from overseas and he burned his ships. At first he intended to stay in touch and planned to record the vocal tracks of our new album in Arizona. But as it became clear that we would want to continue to play live as well and started looking for a singer to make it so, he apparently made the decision to be either the only singer in the band or be not the singer at all. So he cut all communications eventually. We're sorry about that, for we were friends more than bandmates. We gave him the opportunity to be on the recordings, to write lyrics, whatever, alongside our new man, but it seems he declined. Well, sorry days are over. We move to new grounds, unchanged, evolving. |

New Drummer! Mischa has joined the ranks of Seraphique. This master drummer will leave the audience in awe - he sure did amaze us - and is a great inspirator to the band. Mischa just finished the album Follow Sensation with our friends Treadstone 71. He is also the brother of Seraphique guitarplayer Chris, sharing a musical history of years and years. Influenced by Frank Zappa, Adagio, Rainbow, Badlands, Elegy, Pride & Glory, Pink Floyd, Steve Vai, Chris Gaines, Queensryche and Yngwie Malmsteen, he's the man that brought fresh musical power. From atmospheric Jazz to insane blastbeats, Seraphique's music has gained a harder edge with his input. Mischa uses Balbex "MischaMachine" signature drumsticks. Our thanks to our former drummer Peter for years of great music and bad jokes! |

Graphics fuzz The new site seems to work, but still there's a problem with the logos. They look like they're channeled through a fuzz, a flanger and a Wah pedal. Got it? Working on it... |

New Site Opening today. Welcome to the new Seraphique homepage! There's a strong connection to our MySpace domain, for listening and interaction. Click the logo! Other sections contain news, links, music downloads, artwork downloads, pics, contact information, concerts and the complete biography. The "Anatomy" section takes you to the individual MySpace profiles of the Seraphs themselves. Our profound gratitude to Xdeckx and Alicia for designing and programming the previous site! For over two years we were under their wings. Now, we just needed to lay more emphasis on the MySpace bit. By the way, we did this one ourselves. Enjoy! |

Studio time While we're in the studio, here's some blurps Sometimes it would be nice to have a little peek into the future. Seraphique is a band that pushed aside the standard and rewrote the rules in their own little segment in music. It results in the dazzling fireworks of classic metal suffused with atmosphere. Ingenious music of the kind that changes your mind. Once you get on the carousel you can't get of. Not only has our band got talent and charisma - just check our press, but we also have the qualities of dedication and perseverance. Since we recorded, engineered, mixed and produced the album all by ourselves, we released it independently as well, as no proper label was found. As a matter of fact, we think labels are trying to be on the safe side too much, these days. History has shown that great opportunities were missed by some companies. Where are the entrepeneurs? "Chrysalis" is Seraphique's triumphal entry into the extensive universe of music. It has astonished the public and critics confronted with it and harvested enthusiasm, defense, respect and imitation. Seraphique will destroy prejudice and liberate the public from mediocrity and baseness. So there you go! As we speak, the band is recording the second full-length album "Black Alpha". Mischa is working on the drumparts. Right now. |

Progressive? Listening to the Evergrey CD 'Monday morning apocalypse', I'm enjoying myself! Great work! This is going to be on my MP3 player, making my daily busride more enjoyable. Funny thing is, that the software that converts the well-recorded music to butchered-up MP3's, reveals that Evergrey is 'progressive metal'. OK, fair enough, this is not the kind of music that you get to learn on your first guitarlesson. But I state that it's 'only' heavy metal, just like the Stones sing that it's only rock 'n' Roll. Heavy Metal is intrinsically progressive, reinventing itself each and every time. The hard part of writing the music is to make it be 'progressive' without making it sound far fetched. Evergrey did it (again!), the coming months, it's our turn. Cheers, Chris. |

Black Alpha - compositions completed Well, we had all songs of the Black Alpha album completed, except the titlesong. This afternoon, we finished it. It's an epic song, which builds up from a ballad in E major to an uptempo finale, while swithing back from an E and B minor key to A major and E major. This makes the song stand out between the doomy, diminished and harmonic minor riffing of the mainstream. So now the raw material can be recorded to become an album. |

Spam removal machine XdeckX done it again! Our Supreme Website Designer has upgraded this site so we can now remove spam from our guestbook. It's nice to have a lot of "well-dones" of the guestbook, as long as it is not accompanied by links to "bargain-sites". It's probably a worm-thing or bot or something like that, so we keep our eyes on the guestbook and remove any spam. So now it's back to the guitar... |

Spam Our guestbook is spammed. Some virus, we guess. Well, if you're hungry for a rip-off deal, check those useless entries and buy that cheesy stuff. To quote Blackadder: our dear spammers - may you all die miserably. Meanwhile, we are looking for a way to delete all spam without destroying our database. Music-wise, we're still on the recording track, Black Alpha is going to be killer!' |

Next Chapter 2006 will prove to be an important year for Seraphique. Our album Black Alpha is our main concern right now, and we're planning on working on it for the major part of this year. As for now, may 2006 bring you peace and wisdom. |

Enjoy the rain As I was walking among the fires of Hell, delighted with the enjoyments of Genius, which to Angels look like torment and insanity, I collected some of their Proverbs; thinking that as the sayings used in a nation mark its character, so the Proverbs of Hell show the nature of Infernal wisdom better than any description of buildings or garments. Some words from William Blake, a man of paramount wisdom. This he wrote to introduce the infamous Proverbs of Hell. To show the nature of our Infernal wisdom, here's a fragment from one of the songs that will appear on Black Alpha.
Rampant and atrocious play of light I see the night restrain, a rainbow without rain Trains of thought, aimless and derailed Preparing to collide, transforming contents to other elements As night sweeps around us, suspended in air Distinction made us wise, restrained desire dies, Shining above all, beautiful, so immoral
I owe some insight on this one to my close friend Kim… thanks extended. I hope you all enjoy our rain.
Profound peace, ora et labora, Rein. |

Are we sick enough? The recordings are progressing week by week. The question "will it sell?" is raised now and then. Well, Nietzsche said: Only sick music makes money today (Der Fall Wagner, Section 5). So whenever a track is recorded, when someone makes a run for the bathroom, it's allright. And is it? Our studio is now nicknamed "Hurl World", so it is! |

A new album on its way Freely quoted from the "Manifesto Of Futurist Musicians" by Balilla Pratella: "Publishers discard any music that surpasses mediocrity, since they have a monopoly to disseminate and exploit their wares and defend the field of action from any dreaded attempt at rebellion". So our second rebellious quest begins: recordings for our BLACK ALPHA album start now. Recording the drums is scheduled for december 2005, the coming months will be used for finishing the compositions and recording some tracks in the process. Some words on BLACK ALPHA: (Black) is like the silence of the body after death, the close of life. - Wassily Kandinsky, 1911. And before life there was... a stir. Black Alpha symbolises dominance, a beginning, breaking through the pain. An opportunity to explore the meaning of life anew. Meet you somewhere on our separate roads. |

New promotional pictures taken Summertime is here and Seraphique is enjoying the 'quiet' life with some well deserved beers, vile white wine and ouzo. But in the mean time 'Black Alpha' is taking its shape more and more. Last weekend our friend Miss Van Halen took us out to some wonderful sites in the fair city of Groningen and captured us on film. The results will be published as soon as all the Photoshopping etc. is done. Stay sharp people, because Seraphique is bound to be playing a gig near you quite soon! |
